Apple has sold more than one million iPads since its launch a month ago, which is much faster than many analysts had expected.
When the new 3G model of the iPad was delivered to its first buyers, the milestone was reached on Friday.
On Monday Apple said that the 9.7-inch touchscreen iPad — a new category of device that combines the mobility of a smartphone with the speed of a laptop — reached the million sales mark in only 28 days.
CEO Steve Jobs said: “One million iPads in 28 days — that’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone.”
“Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers,” he added.
