In the past, there are many articles and discussions about ripping your DVDs in order to watch them on an iPhone or an Apple TV. The most-recent version of iToolSoft DVD Ripper makes it pretty easy.
All of the stuff we’ve covered is great for ripping standard DVDs, but unfortunately none of those applications works with Blu-ray discs. Now that Blu-ray players are becoming more common in the living room, so are the Blu-ray movies we watch on them.

To see if I could rip Blu-ray disc, I downloaded a Blu-ray ripper for free trial, a Blu-ray-ripping application for OS X and Windows. I borrowed a PC with Blu-ray dive from my friend Susan, inserted a Blu-ray disc, then start the Blu-ray ripping.

The software immediately found my USB-connected drive, and let me read the Blu-ray disc inside. It then presented me with a list of titles, each with a file size next to it. The first title was the main movie-easy to tell because it listed the number of chapters and also displayed the largest file size of the group at 35GB. Clicking the disclosure triangle next to that title showed me the various audio and subtitle tracks contained in the movie, and let me deselect those I didn’t want. I then clicked the Make MKV button and, about an hour and a half later, ended up with a 31.79GB .mkv file on my hard drive.
This Blu-ray ripper basically strips the copy protection from movies and then copies them into the container. The result is a perfect copy of the movie, at its original frame size and data rate, which I was able to play on my Mac Pro using the free VLC media player. Unlike other ripping tools, iToolSoft does support transcoding and if you want to watch the movie on your iPhone or Apple TV, say, you’ll need not to convert it with a separate app to complete the Blu-ray ripping process.
Another app I found, usually referred to as Blu-ray Ripper for Mac, appears on many different websites with different names from different companies. It’s early days for Blu-ray ripping, especially on the Mac, but it does seem like there’s progress being made to let us enjoy our purchased movies on our other devices, regardless of format.

Apple’s latest range of laptops is dominated by the Macbook Pro. Although the older, plastic-bodied Macbook and lightweight Macbook Air are still available, the Pro is now available in three distinct models, from the relatively cheap to the extremely powerful. And it has all the functions of the previous ones and is compatible with all Mac-oriented programs including DVD rippers and Blu-ray rippers for Mac. This makes it impossible to review the entire Macbook Pro range at once, so we’ll look this 15in model and the cheaper 13in one separately.

The 15in Macbook Pro has three main advantages over the 13in model. As well as, obviously, a larger display, it includes a graphics chip with its own internal memory and a processor from Intel’s newer, faster Core i5 range.

We’ll start with the processor. Although the Core i5 chip in this Macbook has a slow-ish listed speed of 2.4GHz, it punches above its weight thanks to a newer, smarter design and the ability to increase in speed for a boost when necessary. In our test it was able to convert DVD video to a file suitable for playback on the iPhone at between 60 and 80 frames per second; the 13in model, which uses an older Core 2 Duo chip, performed the same task at around 40 frames per second, so converting a whole DVD will take around 35 minutes on the i5 model or 50 on the Core 2 Duo.

Despite this power, the Macbook Pro managed to run for an impressive period of time on its battery: Apple quotes eight to nine hours, and we managed more than seven in everyday use. This is helped by a graphics system that switches to a less power-hungry chip when the main one’s not needed.

The screen has a resolution of 1,440×900 pixels and a glossy finish. It looked great, but we would certainly want to pay the £120 extra to upgrade to the 1,680×1,050 anti-glare version instead. The trackpad was great to use, but Apple’s UK keyboard layout is frustrating with a tall, thin Enter key. If buying directly from Apple the US keyboard layout is a no-cost upgrade.

The rest of the Macbook Pro felt as good as you would expect from a £1,500 laptop, with just a few niggling annoyances: Apple insists on using its own Mini Displayport connector instead or HDMI or DVI, there are only two USB ports and no Blu-ray player. So if you are a Mac user and want to watch Blu-ray movies on this Macbook Pro, you’d better download and install a Blu-ray ripper for Mac to convert Blu-ray movies to other popular video formats for playback on your new machine.

All in all, we consider this model to be the Macbook Pro to buy. It’s far more powerful than the 13in model, and the price is good: the current going rate for a similarly specified laptop running Windows is around £1,350, so you’re adding £150 for the Macbook’s remarkable build quality. Mac beginners with modest needs should consider the cheapest £800 Macbook, but for a powerful Mac laptop this is the one to pick.

When the new 3G model of the iPad was delivered to its first buyers, the milestone was reached on Friday.

On Monday Apple said that the 9.7-inch touchscreen iPad — a new category of device that combines the mobility of a smartphone with the speed of a laptop — reached the million sales mark in only 28 days.

CEO Steve Jobs said: “One million iPads in 28 days — that’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone.”

“Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers,” he added.

In most ways, Blu-ray is quite similar to DVD. The players look the same, the discs look the same, and even the disc menus are smilar. So why pay more?

Blu-ray brings three major improvements over DVD: better image quality, better sound quality, and more special features. All there are made possible by the larger storage capacity of Blu-ray, which is capable of storing 50GB of information on a single Blu-ray Disc, compared with DVDs, which can hold about 8GB.

But, of course, there are some things to consider if you are completely married to the DVD format(and you may be without even realizing it-see below.)

Advantages:

First and foremost: DVD discs Do play on Blu-ray players, but not vice versa.

You need not worry about your DVD collection on the new player but your Blu-ray discs will not play on DVD devices.

Image quality on Blu-ray: superior, the contrast and richness of colors it’s something I have never seen, not even at the movies! Blu-ray is the highest quality video format available today. If you have an HD set (which I strongly recommend you have if you are going to make this investment) you clearly see the difference between Discovery and DiscoverHD channels, right? This is even better. Technically, Blu-ray’s maximum resolution is 1,920×1,080 (1080p), while DVD is limited to 720×480 (480p). Blu-ray also uses better video compression. I think of it in terms of cameras. You remember that 3 pixels camera and how GREAT the picture seemed? Think of the 12 megapixel cameras now in the market and the improvement of the image. Same here.

Sound/Audio: If you have a high-end audio system, it will make a difference. New high-resolution soundtrack formats, replicate the studio master. Blu-ray has more capacity that DVD technology and can hold higher resolution sound formats. But, again, you really need a high-end sound system to enjoy this benefit.

Pop up menu: in the newer players, it can be accessed while movie is playing and includes special features, like picture-in-picture commentary. You must be connected to the Internet for many of these extras to work.

Food for Thought:

Cost: Blu-ray players have come down in price but the cost is really in the discs. At $25+ a pop, do your research and find the lowest prices.

Broadband connection: you must be connected to high speed Internet at all times, and you can’t do it wirelessly as a gaming unit would (but you can connect the unit to a router via a cable. ) .

Load times: Blu-ray movies take longer to load, sometimes as long as 2-3 minutes. At first, I thought there was something wrong with my player. Keep in mind also that you must be connected to the Internet to receive firmware updates from Blu-ray not only for your player but also for the movies.

Movie availability in Blu-ray format: While almost all new films have a Blu-ray companion release, most movies are still only available on DVD.

Portability: Blue-ray technology is usually not available when you’re away from home, so you will not be able to watch your Blu-ray flicks unless your destination has Blu-ray players (and that includes your laptop and other travel video gadgets.) If you spend most of your time away from home, then buying Blu-ray movies may not be worthwhile.

Having considered all the problems, you may have your own idea about Blu-ray or DVD. To better enjoy blu-ray movies, blu-ray player really seems to be a must in life.

Have you ever watched the blu-ray format of the film Avatar which is the highest-grossing movie ever and took £86 million at the UK box office alone? It is said the release of the film is expected to boost the sales of high-definition format.

A Supermarket giant opens 180 of its stores at midnight to meet the huge demand for Blu-ray disk and said it expects to sell 20,000 copies on Blu-ray – making it the fastest-ever selling film in the new format.

However, the current situation for Blu-ray discs is : they are still being outsold massively by DVD with 200,000 DVD copies expected to be sold.It is mostly because, Blu-ray is still new to most people, they don’t know what blu-ray is, and what are the differences between a blu-ray disc and the normal HD disc. But Avatar will change the status by its super power of influence.
It is said that The release of Avatar is taken to be a historic moment in the development of the Blu-ray format by the industry- potentially the tipping point that many people have waited for to get their first Blu-ray player.

We have reasons to believe that it could replicate what happened when The Matrix was released on DVD in 1999 which was the point when many people bought their first DVD players

Avatar is set on the Moon of Pandora, an alien planet which mankind is pillaging for natural resources.

The HMV flagship store in London’s Oxford Street will be transformed into Pandora to host the official launch of the film.

Asda is also transforming some of its stores and staff at its store in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, have even been taught phrases in Na’vi – the language used by the film’s blue-skinned heroes – to greet customers.

Mike Logue, from Asda, said: “We expect customers will be literally turning blue to get their hands on a copy, so it’s only right that we give our shoppers an Avatar adventure as they pick up their milk and bread too.”

So,are you ready for a blu-ray disc of Avatar? To better enjoy the experience with the movie, there are a lot of tools to backup your blu-ray disc, like Blu-ray Ripper, Blu-ray Ripper for Mac, Blu-ray Copy,Blu-ray DVD Copy, Blu-ray DVD Ripper, you can get details on our site! Have fun with Avatar!

If the Ayrecovery Professional System Tools you didn’t need, maybe the new special you will be interested in.

We might feel at sea when we are trying to find a professional video decryption tool or a video converter among the numerous choices online. Then we are also probably spend lots of time solving the problems like video was jumpy, audio never syncing, unable to get multiple audio tracks and switchable subtitles, chapters couldn’t display, blu-ray decryption/transcoding was fail, encoding speed was slow, and so on. Actually most of our time and energy has been wasted on that unnecessary and footy things, but we still have to do these things to search and finally find a good video converting tool.

However, with the release of latest version of iToolSoft Video Converter, I’m really surprised by its comprehensive and powerful functions, advanced/fast video decrypting/decoding/encoding technology, perfect audio/video synchronization, first class after-sale service, free lifelong technical support and constant research and improvement.

After the constant updates, the tool was more and more powerful, which can then let me decrypt and rip my videos with AACS protection above MKBv12, can show me detailed info like codec, language, etc of audio tracks and subtitle, etc. Even today, I update my program for free from iToolSoft, and use this new version. I’m really impressed by its tremendous advantages. And I really believe that this Blu-ray Ripper is the last video ripping tool I’ll ever used, and I hope it will be helpful for you too.

What can the latest version of iToolSoft Video Converter do for me?

1. Ripping videos to various video formats

When I want to watch movies on-the-go on my MP4, I am just wondering if it is possible to convert movies in other formats to AVI format which is compatible with my player. Although I can convert the movies with the disc provided by the MP4 manufacturer, I will never do that because it is really time-consuming and I must wait for the whole conversion to be finished. Now with iToolSoft Video Converter, I needn’t wait for so long time and can just do whatever I like during the conversion process because this tool will shut my PC down after it is fifnished.

2. Selectable title, chapter, subtitle and audio track of Blu-ray or DVD.
When I load my Blu-ray disc or DVD to the program in a second, I’m surprised by the clear chapter list of my movie in right order, I can select any title, chapter or the main movie I want to convert. Then choose the desired audio track and subtitle with English language to display when I play the file. Even if the audio of my video is encoded with TrueHD, DTS-HD, Eac3, or DTS, etc, it can easily detect and decode it and then let me encode to AC3, AAC3, MP3, etc.

3. Backup the full Blu-ray disc to hard drive or PC.
I can even see a new, simple but useful button (Full Disk Copy in Windows version or DiskCopy in Mac version) in the interface, that is very very helpful for me to backup the entire content/structure (including all files, menus, etc) of a video to hard drive. And I don’t need to do any additional settings, it can be considered as video decrypting process. The speed is so fast.

4. Convert videos to any other format I want.
It can help me to rip and convert videos to any other format like MPEG4, AVI, MKV, MP4, MPEG, FLV, MPG, DivX, Xvid, WMV, ASF, VOB, MOV, AAC, AC3, MP3, WMA, 3GP, etc for playing on my media players like iPod, iPhone, Xbox 360, WD TV, Apple TV, HTPC, etc.

5. Do output settings for different media devices.
There is option like Settings, which can let me adjust the output profile parameters like bit rate, resolution, sample rate, frame rate, codec, channel, etc to be suitable for my media devices. I like it, I can use it to let my target files getting smaller or clearer.

6. Edit videos before conversion.
The program can even let me edit my video files. When I want to clip some unwanted parts of the movie, I can use Trim function to clip them. When I need to cut off black tops and bottoms, I can select Crop to cut them off. When I demand to add logo on the videos, I can select Watermark. When I have interest to add special effect, I can click Effect. When I’m eager to remove interlacing artifacts from the M2TS files, I just need to check Deinterlacing, and I know this Deinterlacing checkbox was checked by default in the new version.

Having been bothered by the inconvenience and many other annoyances of other video rippers and converters, I have decided to choose iToolSoft Video Converter for my laptop and iToolSoft Video Converter for Mac for my Macbook. No experience, no words. Having been a user of iToolSoft Video Converter(and its Mac version) for about one year, I just recommend this professional and considerate program for all computer users.
